Nocturnal Animals

The elegant and refined direction by TOM FORD pulls us into this story within a story, which leaves us feeling bruised and aching, much like the end of a love story or the end of a friendship…

Often, love is taken for granted, sidelined for our ambitions, with priority given to our ego. We forget those who stood by us, defended us, and truly cared for us.

And sooner or later, the day will come when you realize the huge mistake you’ve made and how ashamed you should be for casting aside and not believing in someone who believed in you with such strength…

A wonderful film that has forcefully made its way into my personal top ten.

Plot

Susan is a bourgeois woman, raised with the classic doctrines that have contributed to making today’s society what it is: a poor representation of false happiness.
She meets the man of her life, but he’s not enough for her.

He’s not rich, not successful, sensitive, and lacks assertiveness.

He loves her deeply and unconditionally, but for her, it’s not enough.

She decides to leave him for a man “more on her level.”

One day, she receives the draft of a novel from her ex-husband…

Only then does she start to realize that in life, status and money mean nothing if you’re not happy.

NOCTURNAL ANIMALS, a drama within a drama, should make you understand how important love is in life, and the proper weight and support it deserves.

Oh, and by the way… the title comes from the protagonist’s insomnia, her ex-husband used to call her a nocturnal animal for that reason.

A round of applause for the elegant and refined direction of Tom Ford.

With his usual class, he has crafted a perfect noir with a striking color palette, especially in the opening scenes where red dominates and carries through the entire film.
