Twin Peaks Julee Cruise Passed Away

In the night, Julee Cruise passed away, the singer and actress best known for her work on the TV series Twin Peaks by David Lynch and Mark Frost. She composed several songs for the series, including the main theme song Falling. The news of her death was confirmed by her husband, Edward Grinnan.

“I want you to know that I said goodbye to my wife, Julee Cruise, today. She left this realm on her own terms. Without regrets. Now she is at peace. Having had such a varied musical career, she always said that the time she spent being Cindy while having a family was the best time of her professional life. She will be forever grateful for that. She said that when she first picked up the microphone with Fred and Kate, it was like joining the Beatles. She will love them forever and will never forget the journeys they shared around the world. I played ‘Roam’ for her as she passed. Now she will roam forever. Rest in peace, my love, I send you all my love,” her husband wrote in a heartfelt post on social media.

As mentioned, Cruise’s success is closely linked to her work with director David Lynch, with whom she first collaborated on the film Blue Velvet. Lynch later brought her on board for Twin Peaks, where she sang the songs and the main theme (tracks like The Nightingale, Into the Night, the aforementioned Falling, The World Spins, and Rockin’ Back Inside My Heart). Cruise also appeared as an actress in Twin Peaks, portraying the singer at the local nightclub where much of the action took place, and she returned in the prequel film Fire Walk with Me.

She returned to Twin Peaks for the 2017 revival, Twin Peaks: The Return. In 2018, she announced that she had lupus, a disease that forced her to retire from professional life. After Twin Peaks, she continued to collaborate with Angelo Badalamenti on the soundtrack for Wim Wenders’ Until the End of the World.

With the passing of Julee Cruise, another important member of the Twin Peaks cast is gone, making a Twin Peaks Season 4 seem increasingly unlikely at this point.
