Dead Space

Dead Space

“Only the dead survive”
(from one of the Dead Space trailers)

Today we step into the shoes of Dead Space’s protagonist, Isaac Clarke, a mining engineer, as we wander through the massive USG Ishimura, a “Planet Cracker” mining ship, orbiting around the planet Aegis VII.

Plot

What seemed like a simple mechanical failure request turns out to be far from that after the disastrous attack on the Kellion, the shuttle carrying Isaac and his team.

After miraculously surviving the crash and the sudden assault by a monstrous creature, separated from the other survivors, we must find a way to escape this space nightmare filled with monsters, terrifying visions, and claustrophobic paranoia!

Dead Space reinvented the concept of fear in video games, much like Resident Evil. Throughout the adventure, players experience constant feelings of danger and dread, with tension building up towards the finale.

The second and third installments feel more like “shooters” and fail to recreate the intense, nerve-wracking atmosphere of the first chapter.

Trivia

Dario Argento’s voice acting in the Roman dialect adds to the Lovecraftian madness within the game, don’t you agree?

Did you know there’s both an anime and a 3D film about the series?

The first one is called Dead Space – Downfall (2008) and covers events that happen before the first game’s plot; the second one, Dead Space – Aftermath (2011), tells the story of events that happen before the second chapter.

News
