Gibbous – A Cthulhu Adventure

What do a librarian, a private investigator, and a cat have in common? And what if the feline in question could talk?

The answers are quite difficult, and these three seemingly distant figures come together to form the unlikely and quirky cast of protagonists in Gibbous – A Cthulhu Adventure, a classic “point-and-click” adventure that puts the player in the shoes of the three protagonists to navigate through seven chapters of gameplay.

Inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos and Lucasarts graphic adventures, Gibbous was produced by a studio of just three people… in Transylvania‼️

Plot

We are introduced to the serious detective Don R. Ketype, who is investigating a dark, evil tome, a common librarian, **Buzz Kerwan**, and a cat named **Kitteh**.
The detective in the yellow raincoat (who somewhat resembles Dick Tracy, editor’s note) is close to discovering this book (the Necronomicon), but at that moment, a cult of fanatics kidnaps him to seize the tome and complete a dark magic ritual.

Fortunately, the villains are unable to find the tome, which, unfortunately (or fortunately), ends up in the hands of the clueless Buzz.

After recovering from a nasty incident at the library, he returns to his rented room.

He notices the Necronomicon and, recklessly, opens it, reading a phrase in an unknown language.

The result is astonishing: Kitteh, his black (and white) cat, starts to talk.

And it’s a headache for Buzz because the feline is irked by being “humanized” and will sulk through most of their escapades.

At this point, the cult realizes that the book’s recovery is incomplete and begins its search for our heroes, who will travel across Europe from Paris to Romania.

This, in summary, is the beginning of a story that, as a proper point-and-click graphic adventure, offers several chapters and many nuances.

Notes

When playing as Buzz, you can utilize Kitteh’s feline abilities to solve certain puzzles or directly ask her for help to progress in the adventure.
Being struck by a spell from the Necronomicon has probably turned her into a sort of living “help” system.

How many of you have tried this Lovecraftian-flavored adventure?

Do you think the dark/humor combination is winning?
