Setting

Outlast takes place within the Mount Massive psychiatric institution, located in an isolated, mountainous area. The facility was abandoned following a scandal involving its owner, the Murkoff Corporation. The game’s story follows investigative journalist Miles Upshur, who receives a tip about illegal activities inside the institution. Upon arrival, Miles quickly discovers that Mount Massive has been overrun by dangerous patients and mutants, who attack him at every turn.

Plot
