Remothered: Tormented Fathers

Welcome back to our weekly gaming column! Today, we’re talking about a video game created by Italian author Chris Darril (Mario Christopher Darril Valenti), developed by Stormind Games, and launched in the summer of 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Objective of the Game

Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a third-person survival horror game where the goal is to survive using plenty of strategy. As Rosemary Reed, players must discover what happened to Celeste Felton and escape from the mansion.

Plot

After arriving at the dilapidated residence of former notary Felton, Dr. Reed discusses with the owner her past stay at the institute where she currently works.
However, Mr. Felton’s personal nurse exposes Dr. Reed and “reports” her for investigating the strange disappearance of Celeste, the former notary’s daughter, and chases her from the house.

Unfazed, Dr. Reed re-enters the residence at night…

And that’s how her nightmare begins…

Upon discovering a decomposing corpse surrounded by moths infesting the entire house, Dr. Reed must evade the enraged owner and a Red Nun armed with a staff that resembles a spinal column.

Exploring the mansion is terrifying due to the relentless hunt that the enemies launch against Dr. Reed, who react actively to sounds and lights, then chase the player.

As combat is not an option in this game, survival depends on using shadows to hide and certain objects to distract and disorient opponents.

The mirrors in the few safe areas serve to heal and save the game.

This game is loosely inspired by the successful Clock Tower series, as well as classics like Silent Hill and Demento (Haunting Ground). Have you ever played it?
