Sweet Home (2018-present)

Dark Souls, tonight we talk about “Sweet Home,” a South Korean television series produced by Netflix, based on the webtoon of the same name by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan. The series was released on Netflix on December 18, 2020, and achieved great global success.

The series follows the life of Cha Hyun-soo (played by Song Kang), a high school student who moves into a new apartment complex called Green Home after the death of his parents.

However, the lives of all the residents are disrupted when a mysterious epidemic spreads worldwide, turning people into frightening monsters. The residents of Green Home find themselves trapped in the building, trying to survive against the monsters surrounding them.

The series has been highly praised for its gripping plot and impressive special effects. Additionally, it has tackled important themes such as loneliness, depression, and the search for meaning in life.

One of the most interesting aspects of the series is how it highlights the human condition. The monsters represent the dark and weaker sides of humanity, such as fear, anger, and loneliness. The characters must fight for survival while confronting these emotions that affect them.

The main character, Cha Hyun-soo, embodies the typical hero of zombie stories. However, the character is well-developed and shows significant growth throughout the series. Hyun-soo transitions from a depressed teenager to a courageous and compassionate leader.

The series is well-directed by Lee Eung-bok, who has previously directed other successful series like “Descendants of the Sun” and “Goblin.” Moreover, the cast is well-chosen, and the actors portray their characters with skill and depth.

Overall, “Sweet Home” is a successful television series that has pushed the zombie genre in a new direction, as has happened with other Korean series.

If you are a fan of zombie films or post-apocalyptic themes, “Sweet Home” is definitely a series you cannot miss!

There are rumors of a possible second season in production, but everything remains quite mysterious…
