Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark

Alone in the Dark (1992) has nothing to do with the 2005 film

Plot

Louisiana, August 25, 1924. Jeremy Hartwood, a renowned artist, is found dead by suicide in his mansion.

His niece explains that her uncle hanged himself and that the Derceto mansion in Louisiana surely had a detrimental effect on his mental state.

The mansion is full of ancient artifacts and disturbing tomes that the man couldn’t stop reading.

Emily wants to get to the bottom of this and intends to go to Derceto to find something that explains her uncle Jeremy’s actions.

Edward Carnby is a private detective from New Orleans, hired by antiquarian Gloria Allen to retrieve a valuable piano before the heirs sell the mansion.

Carnby – known as The Reptile for his brash nature and sarcasm – is skeptical about the supernatural and is already anticipating a nice, easy job.

Things will not go exactly according to his plans.

In Alone in the Dark, the player immediately gets a sense of the atmosphere.

As soon as we see the bony fingers of some being watching the protagonist’s arrival from within the mansion.

In the attic, the protagonist finds a letter from the deceased uncle, who claims to have awakened hellish forces that are now coming.

The mansion is a veritable death trap.

Infested with zombies, werewolves, demons, and other lethal creatures, against which the player must fight, using all their resources.
