Dead Space Remake was released in 2023, published by Electronic Arts and developed by Motive Studio. It is a
survival-horror sci-fi game with third-person shooter elements. The title was released on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It was enthusiastically received by fans of the series, establishing itself in the market as one of the best remakes in recent years.
PLOT
Isaac Clarke is an engineer and a crew member of a spaceship called the USG Kellion. After receiving a distress call, he and his team reach the orbit of the planet Aegis VII but, due to a malfunction, they
crash on the Ishimura mining facility, where Isaac’s girlfriend, Nicole Brennan, works. The team finds themselves in an apparently abandoned place. Shortly after they begin their inspection inside the Ishimura, they are attacked by some monstrous creatures. Isaac manages to survive along with a few colleagues, from whom he is nonetheless forced to separate. Our protagonist is tasked with finding a way to escape and uncovering the truth behind the disappearance of the people who worked at the base.
CONSIDERATIONS
What stands out the most in Dead Space Remake is undoubtedly the technical aspect, which, especially thanks to a skillful use of lighting, offers a visually impressive adventure. Wandering through the narrow and dark corridors
of the Ishimura is an experience that, especially in its early moments, provides high-tension moments and puts even the bravest player to the test. The design of the enemies, the so-called “necromorphs,” has been crafted excellently. The horrific creatures that Isaac encounters along his journey evoke an unprecedented sense of disgust in the player. Additionally, Dead Space Remake takes the formula of the original work and improves it without significantly altering what already
worked sixteen years ago. The game cannot boast an unforgettable plot, although its progression, which significantly increases the pace in the final phases, is certainly commendable. Kudos for a truly brutal combat system and an audio component that significantly enhances all phases of gameplay.
IN CONCLUSION
Dead Space Remake is undoubtedly a must-have game for fans of the series and, more generally, for those fascinated by sci-fi settings. Despite a certain repetitiveness in the gameplay,
it remains a high-level work capable of engaging and, above all, frightening the player.
