Trivia

  • M3GAN is the fourth “creepy doll” for James Wan after Billy the Puppet from the *SAW* saga, the ventriloquist puppet Billy from *Dead Silence*, and of course, Annabelle from the Conjuring Universe.
  • Produced by Jason Blum and James Wan, M3GAN is directed by award-winning director Gerard Johnstone (*Housebound*, *The New Legends of Monkey*), with a screenplay by Akela Cooper (*Malignant*, *The Nun 2*) based on a story by Akela Cooper and James Wan.
  • The plot of M3GAN echoes that of the recent reboot *Child’s Play*, which featured a killer doll with AI that goes out of control instead of possession through black magic.
  • The film also recalls a sci-fi thriller from 2016 directed by Luke Scott, son of Ridley Scott, featuring Anya Taylor-Joy as MORGAN, an AI model hybridized into a human body, artificially created in a lab, who goes insane and kills several scientists.
  • M3GAN is an Atomic Monster production in association with Divide/Conquer. The executive producers of the film are Allison Williams, Mark Katchur, Ryan Turek, Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath.
