Let’s talk about SEVEN, the masterpiece and probably the most beloved film by David Fincher, because let’s face it, what is the first film that comes to mind when discussing his filmography?

Well, David Fincher will premiere the restoration of ‘Se7en’ in Imax at the TCM Classic Film Festival.

The director will be available to present his thriller, which stars Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as two detectives searching for a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as inspiration for his crimes.

“It was last June when Fincher confirmed that he was working on a 4K restoration of the film and With its UHD release just around the corner, this definitive version of Seven can be seen during the TCM Classic Film Festival, taking place in Hollywood from April 18th to 21st of this year. There, the film can also be viewed in an IMAX theater, which means the film has been rebuilt to fit those screens as well.

It is likely that the changes to Se7en will focus on and address some details that will be clearer once there is the opportunity to watch the film at home. David Fincher himself stated the following:

“I’m against changing the film.”

“Now we can add a lot of things thanks to the high dynamic range. Streaming is very different from 35mm negative in terms of what it can retain. So there are a lot of broken windows that we need to restore and put out some urban landscape there. On a 100-inch screen you will see it clearly.”
